From an early age, we're all taught the fundamental lesson of how to tie a shoelace. And, although it's extremely important that we as runners keep our shoelaces from becoming a hazardous hospital trip, we're not often taught that there are different techniques for tying laces depending on your running style.

The Top Techniques

Loop lacing

For a truly comfortable instep, make a loop. This allows for a snug fit that will prevent the foot from shifting its position inside the shoe, whatever terrain you may be running on. Recommended for shoes like the Cloudsurfer.

Diagonal lacing

Free your toes: take the diagonal route. Lift the toe box and follow the natural motion of your foot – just like the diagonal stitching of your Ons. Recommended for shoes like the Cloudflow.

Cross-over lacing
