Athlete Spotlight: Jordan White, senior, Montclair High School

"Next man up" is a construct you hear a lot virtually in sports. It's the musical theme that no matter your position on the depth chart, you might all of a sudden find yourself playing in a different smudge.

That's just the position Montclair Senior high school senior lawn tennis captain Jordan White found herself in after the first round of the Essex County Tournament last Th, Folk. 20.

When indorse singles player Samantha Nochimson cut down ill and had to be replaced, Mounties handler Dawn DeMayo knew she could count on White to step up.

"She hung in on that point with or s points and I told her she had to measure it up and she did," DeMayo said.

Even against Millburn, the top-hierarchal tennis team in the state, White was confident.

"I just had to keep my head focused on the biz and think about one thing: winning," she aforementioned. "I have to keep my ball within the lines, and work out how my opposer plays you bet I should play them and hear to be finer than the else person."

White was kind enough to chat with USA and let Montclair get to know her a little break.

Wealthy person you looked at colleges?

My number one college is the University of Miami, and my second base one is the University of South Carolina.

What attracted you to them?

The University of Miami, it's just a great school. [Lawn tennis] is one of the primary attractions as to how I got there. And my mum went to the University of South Carolina. At first I was like "No I don't want to go," only once I power saw the campus and the whole civilization I was like "It's actually a nice cultivate."

What about a starring?

I would like to study psychology and minor in communications.  I'm pretty good with helping people out, I coif a lot of public service and I'm good at talking to people, so I'm difficult to move that into communications, and so psychology, and talking to different multitude.

Do you have a hobby?

I do community divine service at Toni's Kitchen. I'm part of the teen Volunteer control panel that one of the of import people thither started near two years ago, but it's becoming a bigger affair. We're nerve-racking to get more teens to take up part in it. So I serve that almost every other weekend. I also equivalent to suck. and color a lot. IT helps Pine Tree State relax. And I love to dance. I do modern dancing.

Will you play tennis in college?
I would look-alike to. I'm going to examine for the team and I've already done all the applications for the NCAA and stuff. If I don't make it, then maybe I'll join a club, but I would like to keep playing lawn tennis.
